Bat Sweatshirt #7- *XL + most relaxed*
Since each manufacturer uses a different sizing chart, I’ve measured each garment while lying flat in two directions. The width is measured across the chest (armpit to armpit) and the height is measured from the shoulder seam (next to the neck band) down to the bottom of the garment. Please reference each sweatshirt number for details such as style, measurements, materials and other info.
Details:
Brand/ Style: Terra & Sky/ Crewneck
Size (as marked) and Mel's Measurements: Women's 3XL: 30.5" wide x 27" tall
Color/ Print: Burgundy/ Foundation Paper Piecing Bat
Materials: 60% cotton, 40% polyester
Other: The shape of this sweatshirt has a bit of a full arm area known at a batwing (fitting right?) This is a true quilted design in that I did a foundation paper piecing (FPP) bat design, then quilted the FPP-poly fill-sweatshirt fleece sandwich to create this one-of-a-kind garment. The grey bat seemed like it needed more contrast so I then hand embroidered the teal outline and added several little french knots in the space area. The result has great texture and a touch of bat-tastic whimsy. Yes this one costs a little more to offset the extra time and hand stitching involved.
Bat sweatshirts ready for fall! This project combines some of my favorite things; recycling, sewing and bats! These sweatshirts have been reworked and are all one-of-a-kind, so grab your favorite before it's gone.
A few details: Each sweatshirt is thrifted, washed and reworked to feature a new design. I only use garments that are in excellent or like-new condition. (Some were never worn and still had the original sales tag!) After washing the batty fabrics and the garment, I then quilt the batty fabric to a new piece of sweatshirt fleece. I serge the edges to make sure nothing will unravel with wear, and then reverse appliqué (sew from the inside) of the garment. Then I cut away the original design to feature a new updated garment in all its batty goodness.
