Hanging Pendant Lamp with YOUR Helmet Shade
A hanging pendant alternative to the table lamp version! A different way to retire your old helmet while finding a new use that’s both interesting and practical.
Some background: Admittedly, I am a caver that has used an Ecrin Roc for many years, and I know it should be retired. In fact, it’s been more than 10 years since Petzl made any of this type of helmet so ALL Ecrin models should be retired from life-safety use.
It may be just a helmet to some, but to me it holds memories of great adventures, and I know I’m not alone with this sentiment. As I was thinking if there could be a way to repurpose the helmet, a new idea struck. What if I could use the helmet shell as a lamp shade!? What better way to combine multiple used items to become something new again.
This is a hanging pendant version of the same idea. Choose from a white, black or gold attachment. Unlike the table lamps, the pendants use a completely new plug and cord set and each has a toggle switch on the cord.
Choose a color and send me your helmet. I will remove the suspension system and drill the appropriate hole for a pendant light set. (Please pre-clean your helmet of mud ya filthy animals! Stickers are part of the personality so I’ll leave them intact.)
I recommend using an Edison-type bulb since the bulb will be seen from below at certain angles. As such I leave the vents as they are on your helmet. Note: The appropriate drilled hole to accommodate a pendant cord set is NOT the same size as needed for a table lamp.
Each lamp accommodates a standard E26 bulb base. (Bulb not included.)
